Charles Laughton’s The Night of the Hunter is pure brilliance.  In this scene Robert Mitchum sings Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.  On a side note, a good deal of Carter Burwell’s score from True Grit was based on this hymn and Iris Dement’s haunting version of the song was featured in the final scene.  If you haven’t seen The Night of the Hunter yet I really wish you would.
